School Council Update
Last term the school Council organised a Charity Day for the Dogs Trust. The children raised £56 by coming to school dressed as a famous person, or dressing a toy up as a famous person.
The School Council asked the rest of the children what colour wall and carpet they would like to see in the new library. The majority vote was for an orangey-red and an orange carpet. The finished result is very pleasing. They also contributed ideas for what other equipment and resources might be purchased for the new room, some of which the school has been able to buy.
The first meeting of this term was on Wednesday 13th January, which was attended by Ben for Chartwells, who provide the school meals. He spoke to the council about food and menus and what their special likes and dislikes were, taking suggestions for improvements. There will be a survey handed out very shortly for all the children to complete, giving them a chance to express their opinions about school dinners. The school council will also collect children’s ideas for improvements, these of which will be passed on to Ben.
This term we hope to organise another Charity Day, this time for Children in Need. The School Council will ask classes for ideas to raise money on that day and decide a date at the next meeting, after half term.
Year 1-6 Cinema Trip
In conjunction with Film Club, a trip to see Planet 51 at The White River Cinema in St Austell has been organised for this Monday 25th January. The children will be having an early lunch and leaving school at 12.15pm. Popcorn is going to be provided for during the film, but you may wish to provide your child with a drink. Please do not send your child with any money, as this is easily lost. The coach is leaving St Austell at 3.15pm, so therefore the children will not be back until about 3.45pm.
Roseland Outdoor Education Trip
The residential trip has been organised and will take place on Monday 5th July until Wednesday 7th July 2010. The trip is open to years 3, 4 and 5 at a cost of £100. Please indicate whether you wish your child to take part by filling out the slip below and returning it to the office, along with a £10 deposit by Friday 29th January.

HELP REQUIRED
Class two are hoping to take a train trip to Plymouth after half term. The date has yet to be confirmed but it is most likely to take place on Tuesday 9th March.
Do you have a family railcard that we could borrow AND/OR are you available to help on this trip? Your child does not have to be in class two for you to offer help!
We would also like to hear from anyone that has knowledge/information about the history of Plymouth – maybe you lived there and have photographs?
Please see Mrs. Winch as soon as possible if you are able to help in any way with this trip. Many thanks.
